Hi
I'm sorry if this has been asked but I'm very new to buying tee shirts. I was wondering if you shop on line for best price or have a wholesale company you deal with direct. And could someone recommend a good place

Thanks for your time
Dave

If you're in the USA you have to have a reseller or vendor's license to purchase wholesale. There are a lot of wholesalers out there and then there are the semi-wholesalers. They sell more than wholesale but less than retail (blankshirts.com). TSC Apparel, Broder Bros, Delta, and some others sell wholesale.

Some places have a discount for ordering online, some don't.

First, you register for a business TAX # with your state so they can get the tax $. They want a cut. This is FREE but a pain.

Then, make sure to register with your county and your City since they want a cut as well. Annual business fee's to be allowed to work/run a business in the city and county. This can be from $60-$150.00 annually.

If your business name is fictitious (made up) and not your own name, you will also need to register that (depending on the state you are in I'm guessing). This is about $40-$75.00

Then, once approved with your tax #, you need to submit a copy to the wholesaler before making your first tax free order. They may sell to you, but they should be selling at a higher price and you must pay a tax on it. It all takes time. Start this process well in advance of selling actual orders. Could takes weeks.

There are many different types of t-shirts available including ones with removable tags. You would have to ask your vendor about them. Most vendors should have them available. You can find some shirt vendors on the left of this screen, but I think for most you will have to have the vendor or resellers license before they will sell to you.

Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction. Just got my business license/business name.. I'm in Boston it cost me $50. I called for the tax id #, you're right it is a pain! Lol they asked me a 101 questions.. Like how many employees I'm going to have etc etc.. Just a one man army right now :) lol

Your information was very helpful and got me off to a good start, again I greatly appreciate you sharing your expertise!

Thanks,
Anthony

Very good advice here. However I would like to add this. I"m in Southern California and it doesn't cost nothing to get a Tax ID number from the state. With that said, for Blanks at a wholesale level try dealing direct without the middle man. Americanasportswear has I feel are the lowest prices out there. You can even use their company for your website. You can show wholesale prices or you can mark them up. You can do anything. They have every thing in stock.

Long time since joining this forum. I finally made the move to bring screen printing in house. Not getting enough information from vendor I've been using for past 5 years. So I am hoping with the sages in this forum that I can get some help.

I purchased a four station unit from Ryonet. I went with this company due to the fact that they provided a lengthy youtube video on getting started. Anyone that has no problem in providing that much info without asking for money up front is someone I will do business with.

I'm located in Bronx, NY area. I also have a full digital printing operation with 48" wide format capabilities. Doing screen printing in-house is a good marriage for us. The one thing I haven't figured out is purchasing blank apparel. I see postings here on where to go, but I prefer to find a closer locations. Any help will be appreciated!

TIA

Tommy
