Do you need a business license to run a store on one of the fulfillment services?
For most of them, you don't need a business license if you are just having the checks payable in your name.

What if you have your own domain name that links into one of those stores? I assume that under any circumstance you would have to trademark your name?
I'm not sure if this is 2 separate questions or 1 question :)

But you don't *have* to trademark your name to do business with that name. You may want to do a trademark search to make sure the name you want to use is not already trademarked.

Trademarking can be a bit expensive but to cover your butt for the first few months you can mail your designs to yourself, then file em away without opening the envelope.
Unfortunately, this won't give you any copyright protection whatsoever.

How would this be handled as far as taxes are concerned?
You probably should talk to a tax person about that, but basically you just report it as income like any other income.

If you earn over $600, most of the services will send you a statement at the end of the tax year (usually you receive it in January for the year before) that you can use for your tax purposes.

The tax laws vary from state to state and country to country, so you may want to do some research on the various official tax websites.
