Hello,

I need your opinions on how to do a bulk order with each shirt needing individual personalization. What is the best/easiest/cost effective method?

I have a customer looking to order in bulk 100+. She gave me two scenarios

1.) She will be ordering a couple at a time. Every shirt will have the same basic design/theme but each shirt will be personalized on the front pocket. Probably with some name/nickname.

2.) She will order a dozen or more at a time. But again, there will be a basic design, however the front pocket will be personalized with a name.

I think it would be best to screen print the design. Maybe do a bunch at a time or have the screens out and prepared for every order.

As for the personalization I have a DTG printer. I think loading each one and changing the art would be a pain. Or should I do heat transfer?

I have worked with heat transfers for athletic numbering and its pretty simple. But if I do this I imagine I would need to invest in a plotter so I can cut the names out myself. Otherwise, ordering names a couple at a time will cost way to much, especially considering shipping each time. I also dont know how the transfers look as just small individualized text since I have only worked with large athletic numbers. Will it turn out nice?

Any advice would be helpful to me. I hope I gave enough information for you guys. If you have other questions for me then please ask. Thank you in advance

That sounds like a perfect app for a plotter. Exactly why I bought it. You can do some really intricate work with it, and some of the better vinyls look like screenprinting, especially if you keep the letters thin. I do tons of orders for schools and such where I screen print the front and vinyl cut a name on the back. You'll find tons of uses for a plotter once you get it.

It's sounds like a screen on back with vinyl names on front. I do just vinyl and use mostly Thermoflex Plus. I find a very light hand and goes through washings and hot drying with no problem. My cutter will cut out very fine detail.

I'm confused.

Is this an order for 100 pieces, 2 pieces or 12 pieces? It sounds like - "over the next ( insert time period here) I will buy lots of shirts - please give me a really low price"

An order has to stand on its own - not be tied in with the possibility of future events - unless of course customer is willing to pay up front for all 100 pieces..... Price it based on your current method for 2 or 12 and produce it accordingly. I would not buy anything for this job - just get the name drops from Stahls ( or who ever) mark them up and press them on.
