Hi,
I am very new to DTG printing here at the shop and have some canvas tote bags (10) printing on a GT-782 brother model. The object that i'm printing is a purple ink and file onto totes that seem to be exactly 14" wide by 16" inches height. I'm using the brother platten 14X16 and taped the edges like a youtube video showed me. Is pre-treating neccessary on a tote bag? Do i tape the sides so the head doesn't hit? Please help i need these done asap customer is waiting :)

What color is the totes and what color are you printing?

If your print color is darker than the tote color and you are not using white ink you will not need to pre-treat, but you will need to create an arp file that is only printing color and no white.

Since you are only doing 10 bags I would lower your board and print the bags uni-directional. It will be a little slower but you will save time trying to get your board and bag setup.

Another suggestion is to use your heat press and pre-press the bag flat.

Hope this helps.

thanks i did the pre-press on the bags and they are a light tan color.. everything printed out good. Technically my boss said its not canvas but just totes. I kept getting clearance issues on the first one but made adjustments so 1 messed up but the 9 others worked. Thanks for the feedback!
