I was thinking this question for quite sometime. What better place to ask than the Tshirt Forum? But heres my question. Im going to start a heat press business on the side, but I also really want to start up my screen print t-shiry line. Do I get a business license for the heat press biz and use the brand name under that biz. Or do I get two different business licenses for both services? How do I go about doing so?

If they are in the same location, and you don't plan on selling one off, it seems that you could just create an umbrella company for both of them. This will save you a lot of time and money in terms of legal fees for registration, accounting etc... But if you do plan on selling one of the businesses, then you should probably set up two businesses, or just keep very very clear records.

you can do your own brand as 'doing business as,' which, i believe, is the same license.
