I'm getting loads of requests for free shirts so bloggers can review, whilst I appreciate some of the blogs are very relevant to my target market and it's great to get an honest opinion of my shirts It would not be financially viable for me to send a free shirt to every bloggerand to be honest I wouldn't want to send a free shirt out to just anyone who asked!

I've asked specificbloggers what they're website hits per month are / Facebook followers etc and is has caused some offence as they don't want to disclose this.

I've also had a specific blogger have a shirt and then not write a review ( when shirt was specifically sent for that) - she has done this to at least 5 other companies I have since learnt .

Many blogger email me, and ill be honest and it annoys me they haven't even taken the time to find out my name, or anything about my company , they just say hi put a link in to their website and then tell me what size they are and basically cherry pick what they want.

I found a conversation on twitter where a lady wanted a shirt and said why pay when she can test for free!

So what do you guys do with blogger requests ?

i don't have a brand, but what i would do is reply to them all with a standard 'thank you for your interest' and you'll get back to them after you do some investigation. i can understand them wanting to keep their numbers close to their chest, not so much to cover up low numbers as much as not allowing those numbers to be used against them somehow. honestly, i wouldn't give out numbers like that, either, any more than you would give out sales figures to someone who wanted to buy your shirt. besides, a quick look at their site should provide information as to their legitimacy and activities.

what i would ask is how long will it take to get a review. like you said, i would imagine a lot of 'bloggers' are more in it for free swag than providing a real review. check out their other reviews, and if you have some qualms about it contact one of the reviewed brand owners.

i think you have a great idea for a brand, and for years i've listened to pregnant women bemoan their lack of fashion options to the point where i had at one time considered stepping in and doing something about it. that was a long, long time ago and never did anything about it, so i think it's good that someone stepped into that niche. :)
