Blank t shirt templates questions

I just wanted to ask, i found some good quality blank t shirt templates after searching the board for links, as i wanted to do mock ups kinda like what you see with affliction, johnny cupcakes and other brands.

my questions really are : do most brands make mockups and show these mockups to the printer so they can show where on the shirt they want the print to be?

and can photoshop be used to do the mock ups. or is it illustrator? i mainly use photoshop at the moment?

also i found a good american apparel template but only for the front..can anyone show me links to other american apparel blank templates along with templates of the back of the shirt~?

thanks

Doing Photoshop mockups just for your printer is overkill. Just show him a simple tee template with your design slapped on in the position you want. Also give him measurements; i.e. 4 inches down from the collar, 12 wide design, etc.

For website mockups, Photoshop is the #1 program that is used.

ShirtMockup.com - Upload your art. Mock it up. Download your image for FREE! has shirt back on their paid version of the site.

thanks alot for that help splathead! i will keep that in mind when i get to printing, i will jst show him roughs of where i want the print to be etc. with the sizes.

can ialso ask, when the printer told me he would prefer the designs to be sent to them at 'print size' that would mean he wants me to size them in photoshop at the size i want them on the tshirt?

and i have checked out the shirt mock ups volume 2 package on the go media site so i might invest in that.

Yes, that's what he means. This is especially true with Photoshop since it is not a vector program.
ah right. excellent. thank you so much for that help!! i never dealt with a printer before and so not really in the know with some things he spoke to me about.

as for the templates, thanks for that too. i am going to get one of those sets from go media as they look really top notch and i can use those as mock ups on my site when that is done to give previews of the shirt then use actual photos on the shop page.

thanks again.
My guess is most people would use Photoshop. But it can be done in Illustrator also, just a matter of preference. Check the link to find templates for both Photoshop and Illustrator
