black turning purple! eew!

Hello!
I have been snooping around the boards for a little while now, doing research to starting up with heat pressing (you guys have already been a great help, and I havn't even asked anything yet!).

I bought a new heat press on ebay, that came with 100 transfer papers, before I read the very big impact that transfer paper can make on the final product. They are known as 'red line', thats about the only name I have been given, they have a red line on the back. Anyway! After pressing for the time and temp recomended ( 357 for 15 sec ) Some of the black turns into a purple hue.

I don't know if the problem lies in the paper, or in my printer.
I have an HP, which I have read has its problems in this world on heat pressing, but I thought I'd give it a try, and if it didn't cut the mustard, would buy an espon.

The image and tones stay very true after being washed and dried, my only problem seems to be the fading of color right after the pressing is done and Im not sure what the issue may be! I don't want to skimp on quality, but just want to make sure I'm buying the right products, and accessing the right issues. As, I am poor. :)

Any help or advise would be MUCH APPRECIATED!

THANKS!

Re: black turing purple! eew!

If you printed in true black (00,00,00) and not just looking at it and thinking it is black. Dark purple can fool you. Then it starts fading and gets lighter.
If it isnt happening immediately after the transfer is put on the shirt, then the problem is the ink. Make sure, like lou said that you are printing true black.

You should buy an epson printer anyway becuase of the pigmented inks, so I wouldnt waste my time worrying about hp's inks.
