Hi, I was wondering what would be the best way to setup a website where I can sell retail and wholesale at the same time or just wholesale. I have seen websites where a password is needed to go to the wholesale section. Do they list prices in the wholesale section with a shopping cart, or just the pictures with the time it will take to order? Does the buyer have to place the order by phone or email? Or maybe they can pay online if they have already provided their reseller permit information in some area?

Please, do you know of any examples of sites where I can get ideas of how things were setup for wholesale? Thanks for any input.

Really up to you how you want to set it up but yes when you log into the wholesale section you see the wholesale prices. your choice on whether you allow them to order online, emaill, phone, or fax in their order. I prefer to do it online because the other options seems like it takes longer for the order to be processed and because we are human, the person keying in my order can make a mistake. Most require approval for wholesale accounts and all the necessary paperwork will need to be in before access to that section is given. But it is really up to you how you want to do it. No right or wrong way is what I am getting at.

i don't really trust wholesale sites that don't require proof of resellers permit/vendors license. half of the point of getting these licenses is to shut out the regular guy who doesn't own a business 1) to keep them from buying direct at the same price we pay 2) to protect our prices so the customer doesn't know our costs and thus giving them a negotiating tool (at least in their mind) and 3) protects the business and operators from having to compete with non-business owners who will just want to buy at our prices and want a discount for providing us with shirts, which we discourage for a number of reasons.

i don't do business with 'open to the public wholesalers' and i'm not sure if their prices are really any better than retail, or if they are low if what they're selling is quality.
