What is the best way to print this image...

I have had trouble doing detailed screen printing with multiple colors on my shirts and I was curious if there was a easier way. I know with screen printing, they would have to separate the colors and with this image, it seems to not be the way with so many details and colors. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

See thats not what I'm understanding. I figured it wouldnt be a problem but my graphic designer said its 9 colors and said should use less 3 colors to minimize the cost of silk screens. He also said he would have to remove some of the design to make it less colors. He recommended I print it directly to the shirt. What is the most easiest and effective way to have this image on a shirt?

I doubt he's using an app on his phone, he's just counting.. :)
I actually see 6 colors, however, if it was to be printed with 4 color process on a white shirt, it could be done with 4 to 5 colors, depending if they also print a white underbase.
And yes, we're talking direct screenprinting to a shirt.
If you're only talking about a few shirts, then you could go with DTG.

If your art guy says 9, screen print with 9. Dumbing down colors does not remove design, just uses halftones to have colors appear differently.

Or dtg it.

If you have quantity, screen is not expensive. Few units dtg more cost effective.

Or maybe I don't get the query.

I see red, green, blue, yellow, black and white. 6 colors, easy screen print and seperations. It can also be printed as a 4 color CMYK process print, only needs underbasing if on dark colors.
Easiest way would be to have it DTG printed. With all the colors, a DTG will run about same costs as a screen print.
What color shirts are you printing on? 20 shirts, in my opinion, is not enough to make 6-9 screens out of. DTG might be best way to go.

With DTG, I only know how to set up for the Brother line. Create art in RGB mode. (I know for a print RGB??? Ensure all colors are RBG and no Pantone color swatches, switch them to rbg) If save as .psd, .ai or program of choice. Remember to downsave to at least CS3 if using adobe products. Convert all fonts to outlines and expand if needed.

As a print artist, .ai or vector files are best. You will usually have no problems with art if set as above and saved as CS3 .ai.

Most DTG platens are 14x16. just create art to that max size. They can resize according to shirt size if needed. Then it is print ready.
