Best tshirt and transfer paper combo for a durabrite printer

Hello,

I'm new to the forum, and the world of tshirt printing and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction.

I have an Epson Stylus sx215 printer that uses durabrite ink. I bought a tshirt and some transfer paper from ASDA to trial it with tshirt transfers. The colour and print transfered well, but I also have the dredded polymer window, I know this can be made better by cutting around the letters / graphics, but im not very precise...

I was wondering if
A) I can buy a good tshirt / paper combination that minimises that hard polyer look / feel?
B) is there a self weeding paper I can use with this printer?

Any recommendations would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks,

Gor.

Depends on what color your shirt is. With white or gray, you can use paper for lights such as JPSS without the polymer showing. If you want to print on darks, you need an opaque paper and will have to contour cut either by hand or with a cutter. Either case you can use your printer with your ink. Hope that helps.
Thanks very much for your help.

Can you recommend a decent type of tshirt to start off with? Should I use a heavy fruit of the loom or another type? The results from that jpss looks great. Whats the darkest colour I can use that on?

Also can you recommend a brand of transfer paper for dark coloured tshirts? I take it none of the self weeding papers work with dark colours and Durbrite inks yet?

Also can you use the jpss on darker tshirts if you have no requirement for white in the design?

Hi mate :)

Use this or a similar craft knife, much better than scissors.

X-Acto Gripster Knife/Cap Carded Blue X3626(Each), Art Materials Art Supplies, SAA Shop

With JPPS you can leave a 5mm edge.
Once transferred it will hardly show.
Stretch the transfer after heat press.
Then repress for 10secs.
Getting amazing results this way.

jpss:
The "white" in the image will be the colour of the tshirt.
Stick to:
Ash grey and pastel shades.
does heat press printing only look good on white t shirts?
If you use opaque paper for darks and contour cut your design, transfers can **** great on darks. The down side to opaque transfers is the heavy hand. Some people say it's like cardboard. I only do lights but other people on here can give you more information.
