Hello all -

About to buy a continuous ink system.
Any do's and don'ts I need to know?
For what it's worth I am leaning toward a Cobra system.
Good idea?

Good choice. Cobra comes highly recommended on the forums here and they have fantastic support to answer any and all questions you have with it.

+1 on the Cobra. A little pricey compared to others but worth it from what I've read so far.

Was also deciding on getting a CIS for Epson 1100 but I'm starting this as a hobby and will do printing once in a while.
So I'm probably getting Refillable Cartridges only (not the whole CIS). Also read somewhere that if unused for a certain time,
inks dry up and can clog printer head.

You are correct about the ink drying out. Best way to prevent that is to print something once a week or at least that's what cobra ink recommends.

I wonder about how much needs to be printed out? I've just been printing out a "nozzle check" (hold down the pic [button] of paper while powering up on the WF1100) about once a week, but was thinking that if the ink itself might begin to separate or anything when I'm only printing such a small amount.

A daily nozzle check would barely use any ink and keep the printer from going into "it's been days since I've printed I must run a cleaning cycle that takes 5 minutes!" panic when you do print. There is a utility out there that automatically runs a nozzle check every day but I can't remember what it's called, or if it's compatible with newer Epsons.

I'll add a big +1 for the Cobra CIS. I have had nothing but fantastic results with it mated to a WF1100.

I use a Cobra CIS on my Epson 1400 and love it. Never had a problem. A big plus in my book.
