automatic press squeegee question

does anyone have any tips or tricks they can share about automatic presses and their squeegees and off contact settings? I am new to this auto press but have printed on a manual for 5 years. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What do you want to know? And what type of auto do you have (it can make a difference in the answers)?
I've got an Anatol Titan. It is just a few days old and I am still dialing things in.

I'd like to know the relationship between squeegee angle and amount of ink deposited. Does a sharper angle provide more or less ink than a less sharp angle?

Also, how do you determine the proper squeegee pressure when setting up a job?

Ok, you do know I am the guy who named the Titan don't you? And no I do not work for Anatol.

The Titan is a fantastic little press. It is a chopper style squeegee and flood bar machine.

First the bad news. 99% of everything you learned printing on a manual will have to be relearned to print with an auto. But it will not take you as long.

Not knowing if your machine was setup right by the installer it is hard to say just how much messing around tweaking things you will need to do. But your squeegee chopper has two cylinders with adjustable stops. You will also have a squeegee air pressure regulator that will allow you to adjust the amount of down force your squeegee has. On a perfectly setup machine you should be able to get away with around 15 pounds of air pressure to the squeegee, that is if your machine has AC heads. If it has pneumatic heads then there will be too much pressure drop when the squeegee strokes for you to use a low air pressure setting on the squeegee.

There is a lot to all of this and while I could sit here and write a novel on it, if you want to talk to me in person on the phone just PM me and I will be more than happy to help you as best as I can without being there in person.
