hello all, first off i'd like to say... THANK GOD for this forum! i just discovered it today and already i've found a ton of answers to questions i'd had for the past few weeks.

anyways, i was wondering if logos like the emblems on national soccer jerseys were trademarked. brazil and germany both have emblems on their soccer jerseys that i'd like to incorporate into a few designs, but i don't know who "owns" the rights to them.

spain's jerseys also have an emblem, but that comes straight off their national flag so that would be fine to use i assume.

I found this: Image:CBF logo.svg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:DFBEagle.svg

I'm not too sure if this answers your question... but it does have some copyright information on it. May just be attached to all Wikipedia image pages tho...

Yes.

Hmm. Complicated. The emblem in the context of a flag is one thing, in the context of a jersey it's another. Just like a company can trademark a colour combination in their industry, but not in all industries.

I'm afraid what you're doing is in "talk to a lawyer" territory: we can't really give you a definitive answer. Although as a non-definitive answer, it's unlikely to be legal.
