:)I read a thread posted on here a while back about the mistakes people have made when they were first starting off their screen printing business. I have a few questions that I still have about the business.

1. What equipment did you think you needed to start off and then realized it wasn’t necessary?
2. What kind of set up did you start up with and how much money did you invest?
3. What skill level do you think you had before you made the investment.

Do any of you in this forum live in Houston TX? I’m willing to work at your shop for free, all that I want is to be able to learn as much as I can. I just want someone to give a young man an opportunity to learn.

I suggest you take a cyber trip over to Screen Printing Supplies, Screen Printing Equipment & Screen Printing Kits and look up instructional dvds. The one you want is "Screen Printing 101". I think it sells for about $50. It goes into detail on everything you will need and how to use everything. That's all the training I had and I can tell you from personal experience it was all I needed. For a good starter package I would get the semi-pro kit.

What you don't need is a power washer. A garden hose with an adjustable pressure nozzle works just as well, just not as fast.

There is still a learning curve involved.

I started off with watching tons of videos on youtube, I wanted to print my own shirts but didn't have that much money, so I went the diy route, I made my own 4 color press I got the plans from printingplans.com, made it for about 150 bucks, made my exposure unit & silk screen frames, it wasn't as hard as I thought, but a lot of trial & error, I'm thinking of getting that screen printing 101 video too
