I have a brother GT-541 and I currently use pc's. The machine was built for pc only but I am trying to research the possibility of using the pc as a portal computer and doin most of my design work on a mac. Does any have a similar situation or have any advice on what the possibiltiy is of this succeeding.
thanks

I do all my design work on Macs. I just save the file and reopen it on the PC side for printing.

I have VMware Fusion installed on my Macbook Pro so I can run Windows XP. I just installed GT-541 software yesterday on my Mac in Windows XP and it worked fine. I also use Corel Draw ver 12 for creating all my graphics and is also installed on my Mac in windows. With VMware Fusion, you can jump between Mac and Windows programs. I love my Mac and will probably never own another pc.
You can get VMware Fusion at the Apple Store. Hope this helps

So you are able to print from your mac to your gt-541 correct. Are there certain print drivers you need to install on the mac for the printer to work. Where can I find more information on the VMfusion software?

You not printing from the Mac side, your printing out of windows
Thanks, I need to start looking at mac's and preference over which one I should look at.
The Brother website says that you can connect multiple PC's to the 541 through Windows "print sharing" feature. So...if I have the 541 connected to a PC, could I have another computer (Mac) on my network connect to the Brother through the PC? I don't want to run VMware on my Mac if I can help it.

If you are running VMware on your Mac and you connect to the 541 through the "pc" side, can you print to the 541 from Adobe Photoshop that is running on the "Mac" side of the computer? Or do you need the PC version?
