Hi, I need some advice. I'm currently printing 100 transfers per day using an Epson C120 with a Damper CISS system (if you have the older CISS system- oh my gosh- upgrade to the new damper... it will make your life SO much easier!!!) filled with heat transfer inks from inkjetcarts. I Love the inks... but my printer isn't holding up to the work load. I properly maintain the system and use nozzle checks and purge charts but I'm still having issues with the printer. Anyway, I think it's time to invest in a more powerful printer and I've found a reasonable price for a used Epson Pro 4800.

My question is, has anyone used this printer or a similar model with the heat transfer inks before? Did you have any issues with the heat transfer inks clogging the print heads? Thanks in advance for the help!:)

The 4800 is the entry level production model. The print head and ink lines are built better than the C-120 printer you have. This would be a serious upgrade for you. The 4880 (current model that replaced the 4800) is the printer that most dye sub and ink transfer distributors recommend, but the price of a new printer is $2,000. Most people starting off don't want or can't afford that investment. If you can get a 4800 for a good price, I say do it. They are hard to come by and the chips on the inkjet transfer / sublimation cartridges read the ink levels - this does not happen on the 4880.
