Does anyone use R Tape Pallet Protek Platen Protection Tape?

My press is 4 station, I use aluminum platens and water based adhesive. i love my adhesive and have no desire to change it.

cleanup is generally a breeze. if i do it every day, i can just wipe clean with a wet sponge. We average about 300 shirts a day, but generally more 50/50 and polys. so they don't NEED done daily. As a result, I just generally add more adhesive as the week goes on.

I like to be lazy, and usually wait until monday morning to clean up all of last weeks lint. this usually is a significant amount, of lint, and maybe some ink that passed through screens, adhesive, etc..

or, when i print mesh jerzees there's a lot of ink that needs to be scraped off.

so anyway, my cleaning method works well, and works fast. I have a spray bottle with goof off, and spray onto the platen to saturate the lint and adhesive. wait a minute, and then scrape it right off and into the garbage can with a 2" paint scraper/spackle knife.

no effort needed, it all glides right off, and its dry within minutes.

apply new adhesive, and we're ready to start printing for the week.

however... the smell from the chemical, is horrendous, and i usually leave the exhaust fan on for quite some time to get rid of it. which takes a few days because its in the trash can too!

so, i've been eyballing the pallet tape at one stop. not an adhesive tape. just a protection tape. so i would still use my adhesive over it. but when its time to clean up, looks like you just pull the tape, and put down a new piece.

anyone use it?

i'd like to try it out, but not at $70 a roll. only to possibly not like it.

if anyone uses it, Would you be willing to sell me a few feet so i can try it out. I'm happy to pay for it, and for shipping. and I don't need to do all 4 platen, I can just do one.

but I am ONLY looking for R Tape Pallet Protek Platen Protection Tape. that way I'm trying out the actual product I'd be buying from my supplier.

If anyone has some and would like to sell a few feet, send me a pm please.

thanks!

I'm interested in hearing anyone elses opinions on pallet tapes in general as well. thanks!

I've always used it over the years...I use a pallet tape (protector) on my 8 station Chameleon. I don't worry about lint for a couple of months. The build up has never affected the prints as long as the build up is even. once the heat gets to great on long runs the substance (lint build-up and adhesive) may stick and pull up and wrinkle.. then it affects the print and I change it out. I've been in this business long enough to not be too critical with some things. Cleaning my exposure unit glass is way more important and effective everyday than my platens. Also.. actual "PLaten" tape IS expensive.. You can find the same thing they sell for cut Vinyl backing. Less expensive. at HTTP://www.signwarehouse.com

I use the same stuff or other similar application tape. I also use Medium tack. Makes it easier to remove. I like using 18" cause I like to have extra to hold under platen. Its a pain when the shirt starts pulling it off
Yup - I use it too. 1 roll lasts for ages. I have a 6 platen manual press and have had to use spray adhesive for a number of reasons. I bought a second roll but the first has lasted over a year and a half for me and I still have plenty left. Despite not being able to remove adhesive like you can with wb.

I lay it on roughly and cut to size. Then use the roll to pull towards me to stick it down from half way on the platen. Then lift the back and use the roll to push that flat.

I cut off the front and back, and then adhere the sides to the sides of each platen.
I use plain old vinyl transfer tape, that's all the pallet tape is except without the 100% markup

yeah its just vinyl transfer tape, bought a roll for doing vinyl (less than 50.00 -18" roll ) and made sure it was big enough for my platens.
works very well and you can still use the waterbased adhesive on the pallets .

I used the CCI pro bond up until recently. The last 2 bottles wouldn't hold hoodies more then 1 time and I have been able to do 5 rounds before. I still use what I have for tshirts and can go 300-500 shirts. I think the OP uses Textac and it also works vey well. Texmar is also excellent water base adhesive. It seems to last the longest for hoodies.
i had poor results from the R tape and use a different and cheaper brand instead that works much better (not sure what it is off the top of my head, but I'll find out). The R Tape would just curl right off my platens instead of sticking.

The R tape comes in 3 flavors. Low tac, medium tac and high tac. The only was I get the R tape to work properly is to use the high tac. When it comes to installing vinyl though medium tac R tape is all I use. This is because some of the other cheaper application tapes medium tac are much stronger adhesive. I use cheap medium tac for my platens.
