I am needing some information on Singapore and hope someoone from Singapore or someone that knows the city can help me. I am a screen printer in Kansas USA. My wife and I are currently traveling in Thailand and will be taking the train from Bangkok to Singapore. We are planning on spending a couple of days in Singapore and were wondering if anyone might be able to give us some info on a good area of the city that we might book a hotel that would give us good access to a lot of the local sites of the city that we could walk to or take public transportation without much trouble. Also any recommendation of any good hotels that would be located close to a lot of the city sites and good access to transportation to get around the city. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We will be in Singapore sometime between May 14 to May 17 as we fly home on May 18th. Thanks!!!

I'm currently in Wichita, it's been about 12 years since I was in Singapore. I did stop by the Raffles Long Bar and had a singapore sling. Unlike Bangkok most signs in downtown Singapore are in english. I would recommmend that you go to the "Trip Advisor" web site, it has comments from actual travelers.
If you haven't been to Bangkok before, use the Skytrain to get around, with a Skytrain map it's so easy. The Siam station is downtown on the Sukhumvit Line and takes you right to the Chatachuk Weekend Market (Mo Chit station) At Siam station you can switch over to the Silom Line which takes you to the Saphan Taksin Station. I think thats where the river tours are. Don't let the taxi or Tuk-Tuk drivers take you to their favorite stores. They get a bounty for every tourist they deliver so buyer beware.

Thanks for the info on Bangkok. Whatnarenyoundoing in Wichita? Visiting family or friends? I see you are from Texas?
Again, thanks and we will take your advice on the sky train.
My wife is the T shirt business, I project engineer aircraft interiors, mostly VIP interiors. In Singapore and Amsterdam I was doing a 747 interior for KLM, in Thailand I did 2 aircraft for the King of Thailand. I was in Seattle working on a kit and came to Wichita for 6 months in March when the new Boeing 747-8 arrived here for the install of the kit.
I would rather do T Shirts but I needs the $$$.

Check out Bugis, City Hall, Clarke Quay and Orchard areas, near the MRTs.

V Hotel Lavender - new hotel right next to an MRT.. Ibis Bencoolen located in the Bugis area is a favourite as well.

Else, just PM me. :)
