I've been reclaiming screens for a little while now. I'm using WBP emulsion from Ryonet. I have never had this happen before.

I don't usually degrease my screens and I've never had an issue. After reading on here that I should, I did.

I used simple green 1:8. I will admit when I coated these screens I was in a rush. I'm wondering if its just heavy uneven deposit or something else? I've never seen this before.

Emulsion was too thick, so dripped and sagged making it WAY thick in those places. The thick drip spots might not have dried all the way through, which means they wouldn't expose right. And even if they did dry completely, probably too thick to expose all the way through.

In either/both cases, that leads to emulsion that is not cured all the way through, and that means it remains more chemically reactive--so the ink or cleaners might have reacted with it and locked it in the screen. This happened to a few of my early screens, as it probably does with most everyone.

You might be able to salvage it with a pressure washer ... or not. In future, don't go too heavy with the emulsion, and scrape it off and redo it if it looks too thick or glumpy. If you end up with a coated dried screen with drips like that again, don't expose it. Just wash out the dried uncured emulsion.

A pressure washer from the shirt side of the screen should remove the spots.

I have this problem from time to time. Usually when the emulsion has been sitting in the fridge for a month or so. The emulsion gets too thick and gloopy. Before you throw it away try putting a very small amount of water into the emulsion, and mix well.
