If you wanted to print a small chest logo, say over your heart, would you use a regular shaped platen to do so?

Or would you create (or buy) one that has the "arm extentsion" that the shirt can slip over the sleeve?

I am thinking about building one like this. . .

thanks !

I am not following how the arm extension would work or why you would need it?

I just use a regular platen and burn my design on the screen accordingly.

I assume the "arm" you are tlaking about is the little pocket thing you can attach to a platen for the pocket. I dont use one. I just cut and stick a peice of coroplast, mousepad or cardboard slightly bigger then the image to be printed to the platen. This will raise the print surface so that the pocket seam wont interfere with your print stroke.
