Guys, I really need your help!!! I recently spoke to a screen printer owner who purchased an Anajet printer 3 years ago but only used twice because their projects were too large. The printer has been sitting around for 3 years and needs new ink lines and dampers.

The purchase price is 3500.00!!! I know this price is too low to pass up but this is a lot of money for me to pay if everything I've been told are lies. I'm not sure if it's true but have been told that warranties are not transferable.

Please let me know your thoughts!

Thanks so much in advance.

I have an anajet. Most of probably what you heard is a lie. I will tell you this....make sure that the machine is sent out before you purchase it for a check up. These machines are very maintenance oriented. If the machine you are buying needs a new print head you are looking at $800 to $1000 easy. Get the machine checked out thru anajet before you buy. That is the best advice. Making money with it is pretty easy once you learn the machine.

David, how much will the Viper run me?

Is it possible for me to just call up an Anajet representative and ask them to go out and take a look at the product? Will they actually go out and check the machine out for someone who has not purchased the directly from them?

Call anajet. Find out if they want you to ship the machine to them. I am in Florida and I ship the machine back to them every 18 to 24 months just to get cleaned up. Shipping cost around $250 with insurance. FedEx ground. Total time without the machine is about 2 1/2 weeks for me. It is possible that they have a service rep for your state/city.

If this screen printer has only used the machine a "couple of times" (as his orders are too large) and the machine has this much problems, I would question it. Tell them you will buy it once it is running. If it cost $800 more, you will pay it. If it costs $5,000 more, then walk away. $3500 is cheap so something is wrong. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, so be ready to pay to get it running.

there won't be any warranty left on this printer, and AnaJet probably won't help you since you didn't buy it through them.

print heads are around $300 if you buy from Epson. the dampers are about $12 each and the lines are around $40. replacing all of these items are relatively easy, BUT i would still want to see it print before buying. if something is wrong with it, then $3,500 is too much, if it works just fine, then it's a great deal.

by the way, is it a Sprint or the FP-125?

If it's been sitting for 2 years and need JUST lines and dampers, I'd question why the head and capping station would not have to be replaced as well. If you had to replace the whole ink delivery system it would probably be worth the price they're asking, but since you're new it might be worth contracting with either Anajet or another DTG repair outfit to referb and warranty it. Also understand that the RIP software will have to be purchased as I do not believe the license is transferable. You do not need a viper to pretreat.

If you search "anajet" on these forums I think you will realize you will find mixed reviews with the majority being BAD. I would not recommend you buy an Anajet. if you want few examples of people who I would consider "typical" try these screen names and their anajet stories. Moxieandme, danbry11, sondzin, jaeasy, fuzzytees, nikko1995, jerseyjoe, adrprint.

GOOD LUCK!!

Most of these are people with the MP5/MP10 machines right?

It's no secret that when it was released the Anajet Mp5 had problems and it did take some time to get the issues resolved. It's true that if you search the forum you will find some very unhappy posts in the past. I invite you to look at the more recent posts. The Mpower I series has fixed the problems you see in earlier posts.
I am so happy with my Anajets printers that Anajet sometimes asks me to ask as an onsite customer reference at shows.
If you are looking at a printer that is three years old its most likely a Sprint. I always Davis caution when purchasing used. So much of what's important in the printer can't be seen. Make sure you see it print both on light garments and dark garments. From the keypad you can check the print counter for number of actual prints. Has it been sitting with ink in it or cleaning fluid?
If the current owner did not use it much is he capable of training you? How much will it cost to be properly trained if the owner can't?
