Hello to all my fellow and future entrepreurs.
Starting an online apparel business based out of NYC.
The first couple of years will be low volume, but looking to build business with no silk screening or t-shirt experience.
Looking to purchase a Direct- to - Garment printer below $20K.
Looking at either Ana-Jet or Veloci-Jet.
Please advise:
1) Which Company is more established?
Equipment Zone or Ana-Jet
2) Which Company has the better customer maintenance service and warranty
3) Printer and ink costs better bang for your buck.
4) Can I disable the white ink printer to avoid any clogging and settling of the ink.
5) Re-sale value
Thanks for the advice and good luck to all!!

Harry is a standup guy and will standup guy. There is no hard sell with him which something I can appreciate. Most machines like cars depreciate in value, however the goal is to make money. I have heard more nightmare stories from the AJ than any bad news from owners of the VelociJet. Besides the long wait for delivery of the VelociJet.

1. Established in the sense of quality and support would be hands down EZ.
2. Tech support snd service was a "decent try" with the AJ but the final result was us being left to fend for ourselves because they ran out of answers and fixes. A totally different story with the VJ. Tech support has been prompt and accurate. We have had a few issues but they stayed with it until all was well. Very good tech staff. Maintenance with the VJ is as represented by the company. All my dealings with Equipment Zone has been very straight forward. The maintenance package with AJ is a bit misleading.
3. This is a no-brainer. AJ ink uses a proprietary cartridge and costs approx 65% more than the VJ ink. VJ uses a bulk delivery system. They both use the same ink!
4. Not sure why you would want to do this but proper maintenance (which is very easy on the VJ) will keep everything flowing and the print head moist. Never tried to disable it.
5. If an AJ showed up at my front door for free I would refuse the package. I owned one for 4 months and had countless problems that led to me getting rid of the machine for whatever I could. I'm certain the quality and reputation the VJ is building and becoming will make its resale value be somewhere near the top of the market depending on age, condition, etc.

I have owned the AJ for 4 months and the VJ now for about 7 months. The difference in every aspect is night and day. Tech support, ink cost, reliability, actual construction and engineering are what sets the VJ apart from the AJ.

i have owned the older AnaJet FP-125 for about 2 years and have ZERO complaints. Except for the control panel (which AnaJet replaced for free), everything is original. I just this week replaced my printhead with the newer head that comes on the Sprint (Epson r1900). My old head lasted 2 years and the CMYK was still printing fine, but my own poor maintenance led to blockages in the white nozzles. The new head is much better and I'm back to printing CMYK and white ink with ease.

I'm sure the Veloci-Jet is a great printer as well, as I haven't read too many bad stories about it, and Harry has a good reputation on these forums. Your main issue will be maintenance. Since you're in NJ and AnaJet is in SoCal, you'll need to learn your machine inside and out so you can do your own repairs. If Veloci-Jet is close by, then that may be what tips the scale. I've never had any problems with AnaJet's tech support. They have been able to answer any question I had, but I will say that I've learned quite a bit from these forums as far as maintenance that isn't covered by their training.

As for ink, I get mine from Dan at dtginks.com, and the prices are half of what AnaJet charges. Many people print just fine using the bulk system, but there's no question that the closed system using bags or cartridges introduces less air into your system. It's the same ink, just less problems. Just my 2 cents. Good luck to you.

In all fairness to the folks at AJ the 2 new Ananjet Sprint printers I had (one was purchased new and the second was a replacement) could have been anomolies but I find that hard to believe. I know there are some good stories out there about AJ but there are just as many detrimental threads. I'm glad that 23spiderman has had a much better experience than us. Our problems with the AJ seemed to stem from things they just couldn't fix after many tries including complete equipment replacement. We have had a few tech issues with our VJ but Harry and his tech staff have made certain our issues were promptly taken care of. I think the big issue here is that the VJ is engineered well enough and has a software package that allows fixes to actually take place. My VJ has had a couple of hiccups but overall has performed like a champ and has raised my store revenue by at least 25% to 30%. It has done for my particular business what I had hoped to achieve with the investment in the equipment. By the way I also purchased the Speed Treater which I also highly recommend. My opinion and experience with the AJ is one of fatal flaws that make fixes impossible. That's my 2 or 3 cents worth. Good luck with your choice.

I actually have never used an Anajet printer, I have have spoken with many people on the phone and many that have came to my shop and the majority of them had issues with the Anajet. In all fairness the same would go for some of the TJet models as well. Then again some people have no business even owning any time of printing equipment period. From my experience with the Velocijet I have to say I love the machine, works very well the little maintenance that is done daily takes about 5 minutes and what we do at the end of the week takes about 10 minutes. The Velocijet is making me money with out any down times I do not know about you but that is a pretty good thing. I have had the Velocijet printer now for about 3 months and we average 137 shirts a day printed on it 5-6 days a week That is 8346 shirts in 3 months and still going we have not had to replace a print head or have had any problem that would cause us to be down at all since taking the machine out of the box

These forums are for people to ask questions, get information about products and read what current users of products have to say about there experiences. I do not understand why people have to comment on post if they do not own and have never owned a piece of equipment that the post is pertaining to. Hell I guess they have more free time on there hands than I. Yes Harry it is Sunday and I am here at my shop printing t-shirts on my Velocijet printer, I have been here since 6 this morning it is now 9:30 and I will probably be here another 5 or 6 hours. The velocijet works great and again I have not had one issue with the machine

The more and more I read about the vjxl I really think I need to bite the bullet and get one. We're getting asked to do soooo many bids on shorter run shirts. I think it would payoff very well. justmark, from your 6 arrival time at work to the 9:30 when you posted, how many shirts had you printed?

Most of the shirts I have printed I would say 95% have been colored shirts requiring white underbase to be printed and most are one offs from internet orders. I am averaging 12 and hour with printing just 1 white pass and one color pass. I do have 2 shirt boards so I have a shirt ready to go in the machine as soon as one is printed. Normal print time on an acerage design that we get is 3.5 - 4 minutes. I have been using DTG machines now for 4 years. 2 1/2 years ago I bought screen print equipment to handle bigger jobs. The two go hand in hand together for us, I do not turn down any work at all and if someone needs some thing printed the same day or next day a DTG printer is the answer it is just like printing on a piece of paper on an ink jet printer. If I could be of any help please contact me

Let me add a quick note to my previous post. With the Velocijet or any DTG printer you can charge a premium for the shirts. We charge for 1 colored shirt printed 1 side $25 printed 2 sides is $30. I get an average of 6 walk in orders everday just wanting one shirt printed not to mention our web orders in which our pricing is cheape. My first DTG machine paid for itself in the first 90 days
