looking to purchase a roland vinyl cutter/printer for a great deal...normally these would be way out of my price range...and i see the ink is pretty expensive and the bulk ink systems seem pricey too...are they pricey because the system itself is expensive and they figure that most people who can afford these can afford a more expensive bulk inking system, or is there something i am missing...seems like it is hoses and a chip and some ink right? why are they $1000? keep in mind i'm not too familiar with what type of ink the roland units use...is it that different than an epson 1280 type printer as far as what it can do and the ink that it uses? i hope i don't come off as an idiot here, just wondering...

Chris,
Do yourself a HUGE favor and NEVER put anything but Roland ink in a Versacamm machine. If ink cost is your concern your pricing your product too cheap. Yes...Roland ink is expensive.....but so are pumps....heads....and a service guy to replace it all. The print/cut machines use Eco-Sol inks which put off ZERO odor. They dry fast and are fairly durable. I've seen first hand the results of using bulk inks in a VP-540. I almost bought a used one for 5000.00....but it was so tore up from the bulk system I passed on it. My .02

Second that. A head replacement will cost 1000-1500 per head. Ink goes a long ways all things considered. Stick with oem inks.
