i have a 4 color job on white shirts soon. heres what i need a little advice on. there is a yellow banner in the picture. then there is a tortilla chip in his hand that is lighter then the yellow banner. i was thinking of doing the chip a 50% halftone of the yellow. so its lighter than the banner. what % of halftone should i do for the chip? and what order should i print the colors?

if you have never done halftones before this ...you dont know how much dot gain you have on your press...so this will be a little trial and error until you get something you like.

I would start out with a 40 % screen and by the time you print and measure the dot gain ..the final may be closer to 70% screen ...depends on your print style and press.

as far as print order , i would print yellow -red-green-black last and see how it came out..you may need to adjust the order to get a good result.

i am comfortable doing halftones. in photoshop, the banner is at 68% yellow, the chip is at 34% yellow. so the chip is half of what the banner is. if the banner is at 100% on screen and i want the chip at 50%, then should i do the chip at 35% and plan on 15% more in dot gain to reach 50% ??
