So, my day job is a high school teacher and the art teacher has let me borrow the schools cheapo screen press to play around with. It is a 4 color press with two stations like in this ebay listing I found (probably the same one).

4 Color Screen Printing Press Kit Machine 2 Station Silk Screening Exposure DIY | eBay

He also had some multifilament screen material and speedball water based inks. I had originally planned on outsourcing my first screen to practice with. I also had figured I'd be using a plastisol ink, not water based.

Anyway, with all that in mind, I've watched countless videos and read lots on the process of screen printing. My main questions/request is just for general advice with my current "setup" in mind. For now, if I get some plastisol ink, I'm just going to use some halogen lamps for curing. I've got about 4 laying around.

It may not be pretty, but at least I can get some practice in...

You can cure the plastisol in your home kitchen oven. I used to do that before I got my flash or conveyor drier... I would set it to 400 degrees and put the shirt on a cookie sheet for about 2 minutes... it's super slow but I never had a shirt wash out....

Also I would suggest the book "how to screen print for fun and profit" that is where I learned about curing in a kitchen oven. It also has everything you need to know to start printing, including plans to build done diy equipment.
