Adobe Photoshop CS6

Much awaited, heavily criticized amongst screen printers doing separations.

Will new features make up for nixing the "screen" feature?

Are the workarounds a minor inconvenience or major setback?

Have some of us become whiny babies who are so accustomed to things being faster and more convenient that we're just too impatient and lost appreciation for where technology has come? (Dry transfer halftone sheets, Letraset, Rubylith and vertical cameras anyone?)

Is it a :) or a  ?

I am an Adobe Zombie! I will buy it no matter what, no questions asked. I like every version of Adobe software better than the previous version. I have been using their stuff since 1992.

But, I use it more for original art creation, photo manipulation, layout for publication, motion graphic creation, film editing, special effects for film, and post production; not much very often for making films for burning screens. So maybe I am not a good one for opinions inside the screen printing industry about this.

The only way to "make up" for the missing feature is to put it back.

A major setback of course, if time is indeed still = to money. Adobe's who selling point is about speeding up your workflow. They even tried to describe it in terms of time with the marketing of CS5. They know this very, very well. The problem is of course that our industry is becoming less important to Adobe.

We're talking business here. "Things being faster" isn't something to be described in terms of whiny. LOL It translates directly into money earned, jobs done, customers satisfied, etc. I know you're just throwing this out to initiate a discussion, but I'm just pointing out some strong points.

It's unfortunate what Adobe has done here and even worse that Adobe is the only game in town. I know there are some other products out there that can you can probably get by with but why get by when there's a solution that really gets the job done. There's nothing like Photoshop. The closest competitor has actually been talked about for a class action lawsuit for it's bugginess! LOL

I had'nt heard about that. What is the app?

Maybe Adobe thinks the DCS EPS format is the way screen printers work. It is the way I have always used. I know Stone thinks it is from the Stone Age. ;) But it has always worked extremely well for me.
I'm sure he is pertaining to Corel products. Although Corel draw does have some problems I have never had photo paint lock up or crash.....for that fact I never had Draw do anything funny while working with a native file.....only time are when using a Illistrator file, Illistrator EPS or something created from a adobe product. So as far as a lawsuit kinda highly doubt there will ever be a judgement against Corel.

I do look forward to checking out the new product from adobe. Why don't someone make a add-on to add screen function. I'm sure it's possible, Microsoft in the office suite took out the file menus but 5 days later someone made a add-on to put them right back.
Corel does funny things like suddenly closing down among others but Still use it. Maybe I'm used to a buggy OS so ... nothing's new:D

Some people swear X12 is the best among non legacy versions.

I use CS4 and would like to know what CS6 has in store.

That would be the infamous Corel and Photo-Paint is the closest anything has come to Photoshop. The class action lawsuit was only being talked about, it didn't happen. But it shows just how people feel about the quality of Corel's products. I agree wholeheartedly. I often thought to myself that it would make sense to bring a class action lawsuit against Corel so I wasn't surprised to find it being discussed on the web.

LOL Like when we used to say "camera ready art". Or like the cameras.

I think Serif might be a company to keep an eye on. They have a "suite" of products that borrow from both Corel and Adobe products. I've been using DrawPlus fairly regularly and I like it but it does have problems. PhotoPlus is also very interesting though it has a show stopping problem related to it's brushes.

I would say that Serif products are currently not strong enough for professional use, but better than any of the other consumer oriented products I've seen so far. Hopefully they will continue to grow until they are a threat to Adobe's dominance.
Glad I came accross this info. It looks like illustrator is finally going to be a real 64 bit program. No more crashes! I can finally use all of my computers ram! Woohoo! Oh wait, that means I have to spend $600 again if they dont give us a upgrade discount. D'oh! (OK, I'm done with Simpsons quotes)
