I am looking to create a blog on my e-commerce storefront to help with SEO. Wondering if anyone out there has any tips on how to go about doing so. Should I have a developer custom-code the blog into the store? Should I use a blog app (and if so, can you recommend a few? WordPress?)? Should I go outside the e-commerce space (ie wordpress blogs) to create the blog and then link it back to my store (separate URL)? Should I have it attached to my store URL (ie storeurl.com/blog) or have the URL as a separate property?

Your insight would be most welcome.

Joe - I guess what I'm asking is...is it more advisable to use a blog that you can add onto an e-commerce platform, or to build one out yourself? Maybe there's no difference. I just want to make one that is as SEO-friendly as possible...thoughts?

Do a keyword research using wordstream keyword tool ....select traffic generating keywords ..based on those keywords ...prepare content for your blog..it would help your SEO program
