This is my first thread and I'm having a nightmare with what appears to be dye transferring onto white t-shirts that I am trying to transfer onto.

I have tried cleaning the heat press but nothing seems to come off. When I try to transfer, the press leaves a square that is very dark grey (not a good look on a white t-shirt) and I can't figure out why!

I've tried reducing the time but the vinyl then won't take. I did do just over 100 dark coloured sweatshirts prior to this so am assuming the dye may have come from them however how can I recify it?!

Anyone out there who can help? Thanks in advance!

I immediately thought teflon. I clean my teflon sheet after every repress. I cannot imagine how dirty the top platen would be if I did not use teflon every time. I hope that solves your problem:)

Yep when I am in a rush I often forget to back down the temp or forget to put the teflon sheet in between I get those results as well. You can just use a cheese cloth and it will protect the shirt.

Don't forget that shirts have moisture and that is often what you maybe seeing.

Until you get teflon, you can use parchment baking paper from the grocery store. Some folks only use this product, in place of teflon.

For the lower platen, you can buy a fitted teflon pad that stays put and helps keep things nice and clean.

Last there is a product called EZ OFF, and it is NOT the oven cleaner from the store, it is ez off platen cleaner made to clean heat press platens. You might want to try some of that.
