AAA shirts? what's so special about this tee

68261 Views 44 Replies 24 Participants Last post by  jvddblue
For skateboarding apparel the industry standard is AAA tees. Does anybody know what's so special about this tee?

I've noticed that the seams are streamline and that's about it. Is it the cut?
I'm baffled as to why I'm searching for these expensive shirts. If I know why I might be able to find something similar for cheaper.

Any answer would be greatly appreciated.

In my opinion it's all hype. They somehow managed to capture the skateboard demographic (I have no idea how, but I'd speculate that maybe they were an easy or cheap option for a major player at the right time, and it all just fell into place), but I've never been able to figure out why. I know a couple of skaters and they've spoken of AAA as being the standard, but they haven't been able to tell me why either.

I mean there's nothing wrong with them or anything, but they're nothing special.

I doubt it. The cut depends on which style number you compare, but my limited experience suggests that their standard line is pretty much cut the same as Gildan (but with less ridiculous sleeves) and the slim line is cut like AA. Nothing particularly different there in my opinion.

I don't think they're expensive, but if you're finding them expensive and hard to find my personal opinion would be don't bother.

I like these shirts, I use them as under shirts so do all my friends. These are really popular swapmeets and swapmalls in So California. They sell them as blanks. They are not thin tshirts or dont shrink alot. I dont think they are expensive. I get them for $1.70 for blacks & colors and $1.25 for whites.
Thanks! I have noticed that they don't shrink at all.

That's funny, even the skaters don't know why they like em. heheheh

I need to find some for that price. Are those 100% cotton ones? Wow!
You might be buying irregulars.

I don't have my dba/ resellers / and tax id yet so I can't seem to find
deals cause I can't register on sites. I'm a dummy when it comes to this
but I'm researching what I have to do to keep it legit, and cheap. For now, I just wanna go guerrilla and print some up to give to pros/friends to start a buzz. Then, when they come a knocking(on wood) I'll have everything lined up.
Are these the Alstyle tees? We just did an order for a music store and they supplied us with these. First time I had seen them. They seem pretty nice and great pricing. Can you get them anywhere besides Alstyle?

If you're asking me I'd say yes, but of course it would be best to buy straight from them. I don't have the business side of things taken care of at the moment so I can't even see prices until I register and supply them with the info they need.
Yes the one's I get are %100 cotton. And no they are not irregulars! They come straight from Alstyle, but I dont get mine from Alstyle. For me getting them direct from them the black T-shirts are around $2.13, I get mine for $1.70 from an asian distributor, $1.70 is the price they give me per piece if I buy 1 dz, I can even buy half a dz at that price. I also heard that somewhere in Los Angeles that if you buy more than 15 cases you can get the black/colors dz for $16. I yet need to find this place.

Thank you all. I've set up registration with them and they are cheap!
The printer was gonna charge me $4 per. I can't say on here what I
think of that. Part of the learning curve but I'd charge too if I was him.
Just don't know if I'd charge that much.

So is the 1301(nafta friendly) adult tee be the one I should shoot for. I imagine so.

Another thing that's appealing about the tees is that their seams are nearly
flush, and you don't get sleves and shirt bottoms ravel up. I did some investigating.

Thanks all!!!!

I have used the AAA tee for 5 -6 years. Good product in a lot of colors. Alstyle number 1301.
i think they say that aaa or alstyle is the skateboarding standard because the factory is located in orange county, where most of the skater brands corporate offices are located. think about it. no shiping fees. close to home.

also, some guys/girls like the whole stiff starchy tee shirt.
personally, i am not one of those people.

I figured it had to be something like that.
AAA tees don't have as high of a neck or baggy sleeves as Gildan. Fruit of Loom bodies are too long...Beefy Tee and most Hanes styles shrink short so they end up being boxy. I printed for 14 years and once I found Alstyle tees I quit using most other brands. I guess location had a lot to do with the surf/skate guys carrying them, but with all the competition out there you would think they would have switched by now. Maybe it's just that good of a shirt. I know I like them. Never had a problem and I have bought quite a few of them over the years. And all their styles like the lighter weight fitted tees, the girly tees, etc. all are really good quality. And compared to a lot of the smaller new companies I keep hearing mentioned, they pretty much always seem to have the shirts I want in stock.

I'm not sure if you are able to disclose the distributor for Alstyle shirts that sells them cheaper than getting it from Alstyle, but can you tell me where you get the Alstyle shirts from?
Does Alstyle have a ladies t-shirt with the tear-away tag, I couldn't find one in my search of their lineup. Maybe I missed it?

I am looking for new blanks after getting sick of the tailored fit of American Apparel...what about AAA 1701? I want softness, but also a loose, but not too baggy fit. The 1301 seems to me like it would be just like a Gildan or Hanes.

I will obviously order samples, but just wanted some feedback from the people.

If you're in the U.S., check out the web site for the Dept. of Revenue for your state. You should be able to register online for a business tax number so you can be tax exempt. I did this in Illinois and got my number almost immediately. Received the paper certificate a few weeks later.

Good luck
