im new to all this buy have discovered the gold foil look you can heat press onto t shirts.

now can you cut straight into foil and heat press or do you have to use plastisol first then heat press gold foil over it.

where are the best places for these materials? And does anyone have any guides on how to do this? mabe youtube videos?

thanks for the help

For true foil, you print a foil adhesive plastisol down, and heat press it to the plastisol. You don't cut the foil, as it sticks to plastisol, so anything not against plastisol will pull right off.

They do sell vinyl "foil" that is cuttable with a cadcutter and doesn't need plastisol. This is IMO a lot heavier feeling than the real stuff, but it looks pretty good, not quite as bright.

I bought my foil and plastisol from Silkscreeningsupplies.com (Ryonet).

Make sure you test a good bit before you print everything. You will be pretty bummed if you start foiling and realize that it's not sticking to your plastisol very well.
Make sure your ink is laid down pretty thick. And printing clear foil adhesive over a layer of ink that's a similar color to the foil will help.
