Hello all. I have a LOT of experience screen printing—even taught it at the college level for years. But it was all very makeshift, printing on paper using water-based inks, and jiffy clamps on tables or homemade vacuum tables. We used sight-based registration, and "micro-registration" meant you tapped the screen with a hammer to get it to move slightly in the clamps. Haha. Very bootleg. But, I've had my fine art prints exhibited all over the country, and even internationally.

I've recently joined the team at mid-sized screen printing shop in Alabama under the pretense of potentially buying it. I'm finding there's a ton that I know that applies to printing shirts…and even more that I don't know. I love online forums for the community and learning/sharing, and was excited to add this one to my Tapatalk feed. Glad to be here, and excited to learn!

Welcome Sigg! That's exactly how I felt taking my first graphic design position, been freelancing since I was 14 with my old version of Jasc Paint Shop. It's still makeshift over here at least, so I feel at home. Anyway, glad to have you here, love seeing all the new people! :D

You gotta learn somehow, right? It's been fun so far. Understanding the process and limitations has been helpful on the sales side of things so far. Just anxious to get my hands dirty (not really—you know what I mean) learning to print.
