I have been actively looking at buying a DTG printer and reading a lot of info and dug up some old posts here on TSF from 2009 stating that Epson had stopped making the 4880 print head. Peter had also discussed in a post that AA had purchased a certain large amount of the heads a year or two ago. I am just wondering the current status of this issue is and how soon it will affect the ability to swap out a head in the Neoflex. It just sounds crazy to me that it is possible that a few years after buying this printer one could be stuck with just the base/platform and no printer to go with it (without buying a new one using different heads that I suspect would be available by AA at that time). Can anyone clarify for me?

It used to be a pain to get them. AA purpose was only supply to all NeoFamily. Not anymore by Epson change their policy.
Anybody can buy from Compress. All you need is your printer Ser#. Very cheap too $250(?).
Yes we do have in stock for emergency service all the time. Printhead was shortage few months ago because I did not know Epson changed policy. No printer/ink resellers did announce here. They want to make money any which way they could. :( One point some company discourage NeoFlex buyers with Part supply problem. Now what are they going to say to stop us? LOL
Now there are NO PROBLEM on supply chain. Every 30 days you are allowed buy one from them. It will be wise to have extra.
Cheers! Beers are on me always.

Thanks for the quick response Peter. You are pretty on point even at 11:30 at night huh? LOL. What does "Anybody can buy from Compress" mean? What is Compress? Are you saying Epson is making the 4880 again? Also, I noticed the 4880 head isn't listed for sale on All American's website under "parts" anymore. I thought I saw it there recently...? So are you suggesting buying an extra head or 2 to keep a back up?

:D:):D:)
Sorry I am beered out. CompassMicro. Epson part seller in Calif. I do not have their info. But it is in tsf some where.
Yes, Epson reproducing 4880. Because this was the best one ever. 4900 sells are not near to 4880. Epson seller told me this. You are in good shape. Don't worry, just keep print best quality. Leave all your worries on us. Tigers shoulder is strong to carry you out all the way. Did you ever heard complains on TIGERS? :)
Cheers! Beers are on me always.
The reason we get rid of Printhead sale is only ONE fold.
Why all printer makers and ink sellers suck their customer's blood? While you can buy yourself at good price. AA never hungry that bad. Hide little secret and try to cash out from their customers. Refuse to be a bottom feeder. AA is hungry for total trust from NeoFamily.

Peter, I don't know if something has changed since you last checked or if I am just missing something but I just hit up Compass Micro's website and found the following... please look at attached screen shots. There is a message in red that states that they will NOT be selling print heads for the 4880 to direct to end users, only certified Epson technicians. The other screen shot attached shows the list of parts they will sell... which indeed does not contain the print head.

4880 uses the DX5 printhead. Same as 1900, 2000, 2880.
I also had heard that Epson was going to loosen the choke hold on printheads. So these heads will be around one way or another. I am sure AA will take care of their customers as always.
