i just have a few questions about US CUTTERs Lasorpoint $400 cutter/plotter! i have read a few
post/forums on this topic but havent seen anyone with true conture cutting success storys yet?...
so i would like to hear if anyone is using it and do it work well...the conture cutting part of
the cutter?

1.) is this cutter only for vinyl or can it be used for transfer paper as well?

2.) can i use open sorce inkscape with it......if so how... Do it have a plugin for inkscape?

3.) so have the software came out yet that will allow it to do conture cutting yet

4.) and do all images have to be in vector for it to cut or conture cut an image with a lasorpoint ?because ...Rolands 24 It cuts TrueType fonts without outlining. CutStudio also supports BMP, JPG, STX, AI, and EPS file formats...i just wonted to know if i would have to convert every image into a vector if i was to decide to buy a lasorpoint cutter

5.) so from my understanding ... is it true that the conture cutting part somehow has to be done
manual...if so how?...and is it simple or hard to operate it or understand how to do
it manually? from someone that actually does it or have done it...up to present date?
(PLEASE) let us know if you have...and how it works...

Samantha, did you ever get an answer to your contour cutting question? I have the same question. When I got my cutter that was the main thing I wanted it for. I have only had this Laserpoint 24 for about a month and have used it for other things but would like to see some success stories concerning contour cutting. Anybody???????........

1) Can be used for either, plus many other materials up to 1mm in thickness.
2) Yes, the included software will accept files from InkScape in .eos format for cutting/ plotting.
3) Both SignCut X2 and SignBlazer can be used for contour cutting with thr LaserPoint.
4) Yes, needs to print and cut vector format files.
5) By manually, this means you align the laser with the registration marks using your keyboard to jog the laser to each registration mark. Only two registration marks required, so you only need to jog the laser to two marks. The expensive units, such as a Roland or GraphTec have an optical eye to automatically "read" the reg. marks.

Trust this helps,

Ken
