I would say no. I would mark up hat 30 percent and charge 1.2 per 1000 stitches. And charge the 25 dollar digitizing feem

Just got a customer asking for 24 hats around 9k stitches. Hats were 3.81 a piece. I charged them $400. Did i just give that away? Im new to the pricing game and just starting out with a home business for now so anything would help.

We would charge $6.35 for the hat itself and add $7.00 for a 9K stitch design at that quantity - $13.35/hat.
Digitizing would be a separate charge. You are fine with that pricing.

My dozen cap special is $200 for the first dozen (to get the digitizing charge) and $175 for a any additional dozens, for caps with a wholesale cost of less than $4. So, for my prices, you are pretty much $2 higher, but your overhead might be more than mine. Sounds like a good price to me!!

are you doing your own digitizing? i do my own digitizing and what i came up with to let them know the prices digitizing/hat cost/embroidery. then i let them know it's free digitizing after 11 units. my embroidery cost starts at 12.50 1-11, 11.50 11-24 and so on. if they complain about the cost you can tell them you start off with free digitizing and you save 25 bucks!! this has worked out for me and have them repeating clients. this also scares off other clients who want those 5 units. i stress to them digitizing and go by the digitizing rule then.
Thanks for all the responses. I currently have to outsource digitizing. But I think it was a pretty fair price for both sides. Im thinking about putting a package together for new customers that contains a new graphic for them, digitizing, a vector file, and 12 embroidered hats for 250-300. Just something to get people using our shop. Thanks for all the responses again, this is awesome and very helpful!
