2 passes on underbase

Working with my t jet 2 printing white underbase. There's an option to select how many underbase passes to do, however for whatever reason i can't change it. I'm trying to do a double pass on the underbase. This is just bringing a file straight into the EZ rip, not setting anything up with EZ artist. I'm trying different things to get a really good white print. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

Using the EZ rip programs. Thanks!

It’s been a few years since I worked with the T-jet2, but that printer in a good condition doesn’t need more than 1 pass of white. Actually you can get to much ink in just one pass.

How does your nozzle check looks like? And do you put some effort into doing a really good pretreatment?
I?m a newb to the dtg world, but I?ve been using the treat bot automatic pretreater and the foam roller to even out the pretreatment. Seems like it?s saturating the shirt pretty well. I?m going to mess around with it this weekend and see what results I can get. I?ve actually gotten some really nice white prints on black, but that?s printing it twice. Underlay and highlight white. The ink is way too expensive to be doing that on a constant basis. I got the machine from a buddy of mine who just had it rebuilt in Texas. It prints very well. Nozzle checks are prefect. It?s mainly when I underbase black shirts. I know what a pain it is to screen print white on black, I assume it?s the same with printing dtg white? Possibly worse.

To do a perfect pretreatment:
1. Spray some water on the shirt, just some even mist.
2. Pretreat an even layer.
3. Roll on it with a foam roller.
4. Let it air dry.
5. Press it flat and more dry for 20 seconds, 165 degrees Celsius.
Now it’s ready for printing.

Another tip I can give you is if the white is fading, looks good in beginning of print and then tends to do starvation.

1. Clean your encoderstrip (minor encoder reading errors cause nozzles to shut down while printing and it can look as starvation).

2. Unplug printer for at least a minute (both power and usb). Restart computer. Then start printer without usb connected. When printer is ready and computer restarted re-attach the usb-cord. (In some rare cases we had a problem with the printer "memory" all bad encoder reading and caused nozzle shut down).

3. Check your pump and Capstation. Flood it with windex and hold down ink button to do a cleaning cycle. It should suck down the windex pretty fast. If not, exchange both pump and cap. Don´t try to clean them, they are so cheap and in a couple of weeks you will have the same problem again.

And finally, your printer settings.
White underbase 1440dpi
Color 720dpi
No highlight white.

Let the shirt air dry for a while before pressing it to cure in 90 seconds.
