2 Color Transfers- How can this be done, while still making a profit?

Hi all...

First post, as I am a newbie to the business, so I apologize if this has been answered already... Any way, is it even possible to do 2 color transfer orders, keep the price reasonable, and still make a profit? I am hypothesizing, after reading a few posts, that it really is not feasible. I would really appreciate any insight into this issue...

I assume you mean a Plastisol transfer?

Sure, every color you add costs more, same was with a screen print (because Plastisol transfers ARE screen printed). As with screen printing, the more quantity of a design you order at one time, the lower the per unit cost. An equal number of 2-color prints will cost more than 1-color prints, but not twice as much.

Are there better ways (cost vs quality) to produce heat transfers? I am finding FM Expressions is more than 2x for 2 color...

Can you give us an idea of the type of design, quantity and nature of the business? What I mean by the last part is, is this for a single order or things you make on demand.

Block text vs a half tone print. 10 vs 100 ect...

All of this factors into how to make the shirt.

If it's a small quantity you can use vinyl.

Depending on the number that you're looking for, a possible solution may be simply linking up with someone doing laser transfers (or to purchase a laser printer yourself to create them).

It would be for small quantities (10-30) transfers. I will definitely look into the laser printing transfer option.

Is there a transfer paper you recommend?

The laser transfers are ok, for simple designs heat press vinyl is a better option when it comes to quality and durability

Personally, for darks, I prefer Forever Low Temp and for Lights, I prefer Image Clip Light.
