16x20 too big for labels?

Hi Guys,

I'm a screen printer that is releasing a new brand.

I want to remove labels and use vinyl to relabel them inside the neck with the necessary info (size, place of manufacture, care instructions etc) plus the brand name.

Is a 16x20 too big for this job? Looking at the Hotronix auto clam. In the future, I want to use the press for sublimation and larger vinyl work, so want to avoid having to buy both the 16x20 and the label size heatpresses. Later on, I may screen print them when I get production going, but for now, vinyl seems the easiest option

Is there anything I need to change / setup that would make heatpressing the labels easier with the 16x20?

Thanks,

Richie

I think you need a Label machine, is a heat press to make label on t-shirts, something like that Sistema de Etiquetas de Composição - www.metalnoxmaquinas.com.br - YouTube

Thanks for the answer - but not quite what I am asking!

I just want to know if I can easily use a 16x20 to heatpress vinyl/sublimated/transfers onto a label sized area on the inside back of the T-shirt, or whether the collar/neckline may get in the way of good contact. If so, are there any tips & tricks to heatpressing this small area with a large press

Thanks,

Richie
Cut a mousepad or something similar down to raise the area you need.
Easily enough I suppose although I imagine it would be frustrating quick. I would definitely buy a hat or label press, it will be so much quicker and easier. You can pick up a quality used one for a couple hundred bucks. Also, I wouldn't use press on vinyl for neck labels but rather get ganged sheets of plastisol transfers. Or you could stamp them but I don't much about that.
I agree with the above poster. A hat press works very well. The cheapie from EBay is what we use. Works well. I did buy an air 16x20 for the big work and I wouldn't use it for small jobs like that. It would be funny to watch though.
