wonder if these would be good to buy Nothing at all wrong with either of them. Bought 4 of these and never used 2. They just sit, I have the boxes and everything. Some of the ink has dried but it has not affected the print heads. It still prints but obviously not correctly with a color out. I can put Ink in them to show you that it works before you leave

These are priced separately!! This is HALF PRICE of retail!!!

By ink or set it up to make T-shirt's mugs, cd's socks or whatever. Buy a CIS (continuous ink system) or just more regular ink.

This is voted best printer at this price point. WIDE FORMAT PRINTING

or would they have print head problems?
First off, I am no expert. With that said, I purchased a Epson artisan 1430 off craigslist for $125 last year. The person I bought it from had used it for graphic art design and then ended up getting a different printer at some point. She said it had been sitting for months without being used, but said it worked fine. She seemed honest and the price was good so I purchased it.
When I got home and performed a nozzle check. I found all the print head to be completely clogged up with no ink coming out. I purchased some empty refillable cartridges that have reset chips in them online. Filled them with a mixture of 1 part ammonia to 10 parts distilled water. Ran a few head cleaning, then let it rest for an hour, more head cleanings, then let it rest for an hour, and nozzle checks in between etc. Are spending an afternoon doing this, everything got cleaned out, and printer worked perfectly. I've been using it for a year now with no issues. So from my experience, even if the print heads are clogged, they can most likely be flushed of again. there are some youtube videos out there on how to clean print heads also.
There are no certainties in life, but if it was me, and the price was right, I would not be afraid to proceed with the purchase if that was the printer I wanted.

Print head clog may be too strong to unclog without messing up the actual print head. I would say buy it if you have a spare print head.

When one printer is discontinued epson usually replaces it with the same model slightly tweaked for the same price . I only recommend you buy new or certified refurbished.
I have three of them for sale right now. Just $50 each with CIS (CAD $)

You can clean them out with that Magic Bullet kit on Amazon.

People do get them to work. In my case I went away unexpectedly for a long time and buggered all my printers.

I have decided to just get out of that all together.

I just happen to be looking for 3 1430 printers. :)
Maybe we can do some business.

Have and how have they be modified, if at all?
