1280 and the dye ink

My CIS "dryed up" on me, and I wanted to do some shirts for my wife and I last Friday. I reluctantly used standard Epson Cartridges along with JPSS and JetWear HighGloss Dark. The JPSS was used on a $3.50 white polo shirt from Wal Mart and the Dark on a Fruit of the Loom. Both were 100% cotton. The results were excellent and the initial wash went very well as the dark became softer. I'm still going to get pigment ink to fill cartridges from inkjetcarts.us..but thought I would share this with the forum. Anyone favor dye over pigment?..lol

Similar situation to you, I had to find another printer fast, so I had to use a dye based inkjet.
The colours were great, and the wash tests were excellent.
I am trying various printers now with dye based inks both OEM and copies, I am still keeping my cis pigment printer, but I am not tied to it anymore.

Hey T, JPSS works with dye, as far as other papers, I don't know. I know Ironall light and darks did not hold the color in the long run with dye ink. They didn't fade "right" away, it took some washes to do that, but for JPSS, there are members here who use dye inks. It's not normal to do that, but JPSS brought about the ability to really use a dye ink with a transfer paper.

Here's some pics of a shirt using JPSS and Canon regular dye ink, also, bleached. Still washing that shirt, still holding up nice:

I'm glad to hear abou the JPSS working with dye..but as I recently learned that Iron all and Jetwear aren't the same..and according to you...Iron all and dye will run..I guess I have to buy pigment as planned. Where is the cheapest place to purchase Iron All?

I signed up for newletters with New Milford Photo, and coordinated orders with their sales.

Here is a list of Ironall suppliers:

I don't use Ironall anymore, I use JPSS because of the fading problem Ironall has, and that was *with* Durabrite pigment ink. I have no issues with JPSS with pigment or dye ink.

It is a superior product, imo, and shared by alot of others on the forum.

Have you researched the Ironall paper? I think if you search "ironall fade", it'll bring back a few threads with alot of feedback on that.

Just a heads up. There are Ironall users on the forum bc it does work for some folks.

I found using Ironall, with Durabrite, and a Jerzees 50/50 HW (#29) did give me colorfast results, but I tested about 6 different brands, in both the 100C and 5050 blends to find that one.

With JPSS, I can choose any shirt I like, and it won't fade. I love having the options now.

Best wishes. :)

Thanks for the advise..but the folks I plan on targeting perfer dark shirts....hence my search to find the best opaque paper..
Ahh, Ironall Dark. Different beast all together. I prefer Ironall Dark as well, and I don't have any fade issues with that. Nothing outside the norm, and I don't think it's bad anyway.

I'm going to give JetWear Dark a test wash just to see about that because so many folks here mention they really like it. They say it has a bit more hand than Ironall Dark, but better color. I really like Ironall Dark, so I'm going to try the Jetwear Dark to see what they are talking about.

Well, good luck to you. Hope the shirts come out great! :)

PS: Here's a different thread for you. IROnall Dark (other names) and suppliers:

The first post is the best one, I muddled up the rest with Ironall light names. I didn't realize Ashamutt was going for seperate lists, later on, I got the idea of where she was really going, so forgive the extra nonsense.... Her first post is great. :)
