Default PolyPrint TexJet Echo2 DTG Printer

According to an email I just received from Ryonet, they are now selling these for $15,995.00. But there is one part of the ad that leaves me with two questions: Hybrid Printing Capabilities - Decrease your cost for printing dark garments and increase your production. With the Polyprint Echo2, you can combine the product speed of screen printing with the vast color range of Direct to Garment! Imagine only needing to create one screen for no matter how many colors there are in the design! With the Polyprint Echo2, you can print the underbase on your screen printing press and the colors on the DTG. The best part is NO PRETREATMENT REQUIRED! *Additional accessories required for hybrid printing.

Question 1 (a two-parter): Wouldn't you need some type of registration mark to do this? And wouldn't that ruin the substrate?

Question 2: What are these additional accessories? Although there's an asterisk, there's no footnote to explain.

Hybrid printing has been around for a decade, and polyprint have been offering this product for a while.

The accessory allows you to fit the printer platen on a screen-printing press.
You basically print the registration marks on the platen and you use it to register the screen.

Definition of asterisk

(Entry 1 of 2)

1 : the character * used in printing or writing as a reference mark, as an indication of the omission of letters or words, to denote a hypothetical or unattested linguistic form, or for various arbitrary meanings

2 : the character * thought of as being appended to something (such as an athletic accomplishment included in a record book) typically in order to indicate that there is a limiting fact or consideration which makes that thing less important or impressive than it would otherwise be But the men's triumph came with an asterisk: The Soviets, three-time gold medalists, had boycotted the Games.— Brad Young

3 : someone or something considered too minor for prominent mention : footnote At fifty-four, he had followed war from the hills of Italy to the islands of the Pacific to the mountains of Korea, and countless other places already becoming asterisks in the history books.— William Prochnau

Hello DrivingZiggy,

as TABOB explained, the Screen and Digital mix has been offered by Polyprint from 2012. The registration marks was usually designed by the customer on the artwork, in order to easier register the screen with the TexJet Series printer but the new build of Digital Factory Apparel Polyprint Edition that we provide including in the price of the printer, allows you to do this easy and fast through the software.

Regarding the second part of your question, the additional equipment required is an adaptors that will fit on your screen machine and on your TexJet series printer in order to be able to use the same platens.

As a bonus, with TexJet Series printers you are also able to print the films.

You can check the procedure at the video below:

Thanks, Bob! And an extra special thanks for curtailing the curmudgeonliness.

Okay. Once upon a time there were footnotes. There still are! And here is what they look like:

You have the small, raised number next to the text. Then at the bottom you have the explanation of what the small number is referring to.

So these days you will sometimes see an asterisk used in an ad--just like in this case. But sometimes if you go to the bottom of the page/end of the ad they will tell you to what the asterisk is referring. In this case there is no explanation. At least there was not until Polyprint explained it here:

In my mind, that information is very important and should have been contained in Ryonet's ad.

Very nice! Even if the ink is more expensive than that usually used for films, it saves the cost of another printer. You can use a lot of ink for that amount of money! And save some space in your shop, too.

Nice video! Gets right to the point showing ALL of the functions and the music is pleasant. Alas, I will now show even more of my ignorance. What is the drawer he's putting the shirt in at the end?

Hello DrivingZiggy,

after printing we need to fixate the inks on the garment. For this reason, as we usually need around 160-180 degrees to fixate the ink, we use either heatpress or dryers.

Both methods provide equal washability results in most cases but you have different feeling when touching the garment after fixation.

We remain at your disposal for any further assistance and we suggest to book a video conference with Ryonet, in order to get more information regarding the whole process.

"Curing oven" would be the correct term.

These work much better than small conveyor dryers, especially for water based inks that will only cure after the water evaporates.

Ryonet is selling the Echo2 printer.
Has anyone found the price list for those essential accessories necessary for hybrid printing.
Those platens need an indexing/registration/alignment method and it appears to be those adapters shown in the video. More data needed.

You will need the 2 or more pallets and the attachment for your press, they recommend water-based white inks for the base, flash them. the move the pallet to the printer, and print cymk on it. See link below.
