Default Removing printhead on Texjet Plus

Hi Guys!

I need to remove the printhead on my texjet plus machine so i can flush it. How is it done? I assume it has something to do with the two springs, im a little afraid of using force or trying my way forward. Pictures and step to step guidance would be awesome.

I also wonder how to do a "powerclean"? I cant find my manual, and i cant find one on the web neither.

Best regards Dennis

Hi Dennis,

I would strongly advise against flushing the print head. It is only meant to be a last measure resort when everything else has failed. What exactly are you facing? Clogged nozzles after long inactivity? I'd suggest you try filling up fresh ink and performing a couple of power cleanings. To do that, go into the top panel menu-->maintenance-->power cleaning (YES).

Hi kostaspolyprint!

Thanks for your answer. YEs, the machine has been inactive for at least a year. I have done a few powercleanings, and regular cleaning aswell. Some colours just wont show, only magenta it seems. No black colour for example.
So it prints, but not in every colour, and powercleaning does not seem to help.

Save your time and nerves and get a new printhead. It is impossible to restore the clogged nozzles. I know what I am saying. I went thru 11 printheads.

Hi Dennis,

Since the printer has been idle for a year with inks inside, then probably you need to replace the ink system before checking and/or replacing the print head. Installing a new print head with an old ink system will most likely cause new problems in the new head. If you also had white ink inside, then you do need to replace the ink system for sure. In any case, I would suggest having a technician over to check the printer better.

Then replace also a caping station and you will have a brand new printer LOL.

Prepare your wallet because you will do it systematically. Welcome in the DTG world. Jetting a dense textile ink with modified office printer is a weird idea but a lot of people do it.

Thanks for all the answers. I will flush thw printehead before changing it. I have done a few Power cleans now, and it is a little better, but not all colours show, black for example.

And now a get an error code "service call error 1601"? and error "0020" Anyone know what it is?
I also get e text saying "init error"?

Hi Dennis,

1601 means that either a cartridge or the waste tank are not properly recognized. You need to open the printer in diagnostic mode (Up+Power On) and check again the message on the top panel (it will be either cartridge or waste tank related). Reset them or re-insert them and check again.

Hello again!
I've got rid of the 1601 code. But cannot get rid of the "init error 0020" code. I have seen your previous answer to another guy with the same issue Kostaspolyprint, but in my case the "paper size check" is allready set to off. And it does not help pulling the plug or restarting. Any ideas? best regards Dennis

Hi Dennis,

When you get the 0020 error notice in the bottom display, what message exactly do you get on the upper screen? If you are unsure, please open the printer in diagnostic mode and write here again what you see on both screens. It sounds to me that either some interbal counters need to be reset, or the maintenance tank/ink cartridges need to be either reset or replaced (if the chips for example cannot be read properly).

I have a general question about the print head in the Texjet Plus / Texjet Plus Advanced. There is the EPSON Stylus Pro 3880 printhead with the original part number F196000 installed.
However, this is no longer sold in Europe, is the printhead of the EPSON SURECOLOR SC-P800 with the part number F196040 compatible with the F196000?

Yep...that's DTG.
However the DX5 and DX7 printheads used in these printers are more than capable to deliver textile inks.

Epson's own DTG printer, the F2000/F2100, will have the same problems if it remains inactive for long periods of time filled with ink.
Flushing the Printehead with a syringe, can be done, but it has to be very gentle. Do not Waterfall, unless you are ready to buy a new printhead. You may get away with it a couple of times...if you are lucky.
