Default Ricoh SG3110dn Stripes

Hi guys, I've just joined the forum - Hopefully you can help with my printing issue.

I have a Ricoh SG3110dn, its second hand and had been working fine for the past few months.
After printing on some mug paper last week, it started printing lines and stripes on all sizes of paper. I've done many print head cleans, flushes, etc. But its not going away.

Is there a way to attach images on here to show you the issue?

Any ideas what to check please?

Cheers

Do you keep it on standby 24/7 to keep the heads clean?

Its pretty much always been turned on. Ive tried cleaning under the print head with a damp cloth, but its still doing it.

Sayonara, Ricoh.

If you have clogged nozzles and there is nothing you can do to unclog them, time for a new printer.

Next time, don't accept a used one unless it's free or you are paid to take it. It's guaranteed trouble. Lack of reliability is the big issue, as you've learned.

Been through it all. Epson. Ricoh. Clogged heads. Replaced heads. Declogging solution. You name it.

Sayonara.

And it's good to have a backup printer because if you have only one, the time will come when your main machine fails when you can't afford to have that happen. No matter what you do to keep the head clean. Happened again this week.

BTW, IMO putting a pad with solvent below the print head is like taking chicken soup when you have a cold. It probably won't help. But it won't hurt.

The crud clogging the head is the dried ink inside the nozzles. You get to that by putting solvent in behind them. You cannot backflush the head. So the solvent on your pad isn't going anywhere. You've got to dissolve that crud and move it along - much like flushing a clogged toilet.

Keep running head cleaning cycles regularly over a long, long time. Maybe a month or so. You may ultimately get things unclogged. There is no substitute for time.

If you're still screwed, sayonara Ricoh.

Now you see why a backup printer is a good idea.
MKD Studios likes this.
