Default Handy Screen Cleaning Tip

Hi Y'all! Long time listener, first time caller...

In honor of Earth Day, I'd like to share a handy tip, which if put to use can save a considerable amount of water and screen cleaning chems.

I stumbled across this method by accident a while back and kept it a secret, thinking I could develop a "product" and make a trillion dollars. However it's so simple and stupid, that would be like repackaging hydrogen peroxide as "scorch out" and well, I'm not (that much of) an asshole.

Note: this may not apply to many of you running larger scale outfits - using solvent tanks etc. to clean your screens, but for someone like me (one man show) producing 20K tees per year, it has made my screen cleaning tasks SO much easier and more efficient. I'm able to stretch out 1 gallon of cleaner for about a whole year / estimated 500 screen cleanings!

Basically, I use Citrapaste (by CCI) and a standard scrub brush for my first pass to get the bulk of the ink off/out of the mesh WITHOUT worrying about getting ALL OF IT (ie the pesky dried up ink in the taped off reg marks etc.) - Rinse lightly AND THEN give it a second pass with a scrub brush lined with microfiber cloth (available at any hardware store) and it's like Mr. Clean's magic fxxn eraser for screen printers! Doing this barely takes any effort to get ALL the ink out of the mesh. Which saves a lot of time and eadache and means I also VERY RARELY find the need to dehaze when reclaiming now. You can see on the bottom pic how I simply lace the corners of the microfiber through the handle and tie off on each side.

Hope this helps you - as well as our amazing planet!!
