so if i use a jpeg and it has that white background...then it will print that white background?....

i mainly work in photoshop...... and sort of like the gritty look that i get with some of my images..... but i just created a store for another project of mine and want to make sure that i dont have that background issue.....

so i guess if i save them as a gif i should be fine?...or am i missing something here?

A jpeg will always have a white background when viewed online, so it is best to submit a transparent png file, then there will be no white background shown online. Depend on the design and printing process will determine if the design will print correctly or not.

We offer different types of digital printing, Digital Direct and Digital Transfer Overlay. With Digital Direct, you can use any file and it will print without a background, so for this technique, you would definitely want to upload files with transparency.

With Digital Transfer Overlay, designs have to meet certain requirements in order to print correctly on the apparel, i.e. without a background.

Check out this FAQ for more information about Digital Printing. Eventually, all digital printing will be done with Digital Direct, so if you are looking to upload designs which can not be printed as vector, then I would suggest using transparent png files.

thanks

i saved my images as a .gif and i think it worked.....

right now just figuring out if the white print on darker shirts will come out good......

also.... is there a way to spec a color for the graphic to match the shirt trim..... i.e. if i use a retro shirt and it's green shirt with orange trim.... is there a way to spec the orange trim color for the design... or do i just try to match the orange color in photoshop/etc?

thanks

Yes, transparent gif files will work as well. As for matching the shirt trim or any shirt color for that matter, there are no specific Pantone colors available for products colors.

In Paint Shp Pro 7, I use the select all - set transparency tool. The only problem with this tool is it takes out all of the colors that you designate as a transparency.

If it's a .gif file, then you can try gifworks.com and use it. Note however that the maximum size is 100kb. To small for our needs but at least it's good on small stuff.

Do not save your image as a .jpg and use it as a transparency as it doesn't work. If you save it as .gif or .png file, then you be all set. The best part about using a transparent .png file is when I resize it for lighters and buckles, I lose no clarity. Works perfect on charms and watches.

Hope this helps.

Hi Fred, I see that you are helpful in this forum. I am having trouble making a white background transparent using Paint Shop Pro 7. I have a white text design that I want to transfer on a shirt but want to remove that white background first before printing. Can you share the step by step way of doing that? Please I am kinda desperate at this point lol..Thanks a bunch.
