Re: Gildan just closed all Mills for a month

Yeah, during the panic it won't much matter, as no one has $ for anything other than TP and canned beans ;-) But once demand kicks in again, there is going to be a lag in the supply chain, all the...

Re: Any idea what this is for?

Looks like the "detent" to hold the screens in position over the platens. At least on my Vastex, you turn/tighten that bolt one way or the other to increase the resistance needed to overcome the...

Re: 30$ for a single tshirt screen print? Should i trust this store?

Vinyl, done correctly, is quite durable, and would be the natural choice for an order of one--IF the art is suitable for use with vinyl. Text and simple bold graphics would work. Fine lines,...

Re: 30$ for a single tshirt screen print? Should i trust this store?

Read closer :-p

He was talking about consumables: ink, emulsion, transparency film. I mentioned the screens themselves, but the screens are not "consumed," so can be reused on the next job.

In...

Re: 30$ for a single tshirt screen print? Should i trust this store?

Besides the actual costs and labor consumed in screen prep, it ties up a $15/20 screen for each color. But assuming you aren't asking this guy to continue randomly printing one shirt now and then, he...

Re: Anyone else worried about their business....

Last week was slow. The last two days have been normal. Perhaps a bit of cabin fever kicking in already ... people with nothing better to do than buy stuff online. Note, I sell retail online; I'm not...

Re: Etsy Free Shipping Policy

Yes, there has been a lot of unhappiness from furniture makers, and the like.

Etsy has been rolling out a steady stream of One-Size-Fits-All features that have people it doesn't fit so well up in...

Re: How many designs to start online biz

Yes, still on Etsy and eBay. I've got URLs for all of my niches which I redirect to my Etsy stores (I shut down my own site a year or two ago or three?). But I'm thinking of doing my own site again...

Re: How to Trademark a Shirt Design

Excellent point.

People should note the many, many brand names that are in some way misspelled, or entirely made up nonsense words. The least defensible type of phrase is exactly the sort of thing...

Re: Web Hosting Comparisons

I've used Namecheap since 2013. It's worked well for me.

Re: Etsy Free Shipping Policy

What Etsy said was that in order to appear on the first page (pages?) of search results, you had to participate in their Free Shipping scam. That means either offering Free Shipping on individual...

Re: How many designs to start online biz

I have one design that sold over 1,000 units a year, so a couple of those might be enough to start out ;-) But one never knows which those are until one tries.

What's the turnaround time of your...

Re: I need to rethink by celebrity designs. Tips?

For the most part, people own the rights to their own likeness, so you need their permission.

I was expressing surprise that Epson brand ink could be less expensive than Cobra brand ink.

Need an inkjet. Also transparency film made for screen printing ... the stuff at Office Depot won't cut it.

Epson ink less expensive than Cobra? That's hard to fathom.

Re: How can I start printing 3-D Style T-Shirts ?

Could be done with any. The method used depends on other things, such as the quantity to be printed at any one time, as well as what one actually has access to (or budget for).

Re: Questions about tshirt printing

For boxy style tees, I use Hanes Beefy-T. The Gildan Hammer is very similar. Both of these should be easy to get and test. I'm not sure how they compare to the 1301, as I've never used those.

Re: I'm done with Jet Pro Soft Stretch

Meaning that some areas of transfer are staying stuck to the paper rather than ending up on the shirt?

I've always used parchment paper over the transfer ... not sure if might need to up the temp...

Re: I'm done with Jet Pro Soft Stretch

What is your process and equipment?

I've had very good results with JPSS:

- Epson printer

- Cobra pigment ink

- White 100% cotton shirts

Re: Copyright help/question

Copyright applies to all art unless it is explicitly published as otherwise, or unless the copyright has expired. Current copyright terms are quite long, so anything from the past 100 years, or so,...

Re: DTG onto a hoodie?

Also, Hanes Ultimate Cotton PrintPro hoodies have a 100% cotton face, overall body is 90% cotton, 10% poly. They screen print great, and are a hefty 10 oz, but I found the waist and wrist...

Re: Injet printer transfers vs laser printer transfers

The short answer is not really. The longer answer is, to some extent. There is software to halftone the image, which basically puts a bunch of holes in the transfer so it is not a solid slab of toner...

Re: white sticking to next screen

May also need to cool the print a bit (fan / cooling station / or just time), as some inks (like Green Galaxy white) tend to get sticky when hot.
