Does FastRip work well with the Epson R1800? Has anyone had any problems with this setup?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm considering getting into the screen printing businesss. Any suggestions on what would be a good software program for shirt designs? I'm pretty good with Photoshop and CorelDraw 12, but what's good for color separations?

Thanks Again.

I use FastRip with an R1800 and it has worked fine also.

For separations, I use FastFilms. It's pricey but it saves alot of time in the long run. Be prepared to make some changes by hand after the program separates the file to get everything dialed-in perfectly.

Hope this helps.

The industry standard programs used for artwork are Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, and Adobe Photoshop. Illustrator and Draw are vector based. Photoshop is the standard image editing program for raster graphics. All three are used and every screen printer has his favorite.

Corel Draw is the least expensive and has the easiest learning curve for making separations

Jpeg's are not recommended for artwork because they use lossy compression meaning that some visual quality is lost in the process when you save the file.

I hope this helps and Good Luck.

I used an Epson 1800 for a while. We go through quite a few films when we are busy, the problem is I went through 3 printers in side of one year. It is a god printer to get started but if you go through a lot of films you may need to upgrade. Good luck.

Don't leave out Corel Photopaint, similar to Photoshop.

Check out the Advanced Artist website on how he uses the two together.

FastRIP does work quite well with the R1800. If you are looking to get the most recent version of FastRIP it is also compatible with the Epson 1400 which you can pick up for $300 or less. My only recommendations are to probably stick with using a FastINK cartridge instead of a bulk system & to make sure you purchase Waterproof film or you will get banding in your prints.
