Default Buying equipment in what order

Hi all and thank you,

I am just starting out and cannot afford all the equipment at once. So far I have acquired, Manual Press, Flash unit (BBC), and a heat press (already had that). I built an exposure unit and it seems to work well so far. In this situation, what do you suggest focusing on next as far as quality "real" equipment? I have lots to learn... Best bang for the buck?

Thanks

Not a lot more screen printing equipment you need until you get busier. Then you can maybe add a multi colour mult station press and a conveyor drier, in that order.

In the meantime there are lots of other equipment that will make a small shop busier. In order I would buy the following -

A vinyl cutter is essential and will increase your appeal to smaller customers. Cost anything from $200 - $2000 depending on the size and quality.

A Sublimation printer will add alot of options, for a few hundred dollars. Ideal for sportswear but also good for many other items.

Inkjet printer for transfers (pigment ink) - again for $200 upwards.

You could get the lot for $1000 - $2000. You wouldn't get a better screen printing press for any less, and the cutter and printers will open up more options than just concentrating on screen printing.

Maybe think about a cap press.

Thank you!
I do have a vinyl cutter. Right now I'm using a Canon pixma pro 9000 mkii as my printer. I will need to look into pigment ink. My press is a 6 color, but I only have 4 heads right now. They are not cheap. I can see the dryer being a smart investment as well.

A dryer is the logical next step.

You could add a pro exposure unit, but the necesity would depend on how many screens you are making. An LED unit might theoretically save you 10 mins per screen, but in reality you are rinsing out one screen while the next is exposing. If your current results are good then you might not want to bother.

There are plenty of suppliers out there who can sell you all sorts of equiment. Press/flash/drier are the main essentials for a small shop. Most of the rest you can make yourself.
