So I have a load of busted up static aluminum frames that I use for simple 1-color or 2-color jobs that don't have color to color registration. I also use Newman frames for detail work and multi-color jobs. The newmans in my opinion and for the size of my shop are just too much work for simple low quantity 1-color jobs. I.e, black ink on a light garment.
With this said I wanted to get my aluminum frames restretched but when I look at the cost of that compared to buying new frames I'm wondering why anybody goes through the hassle of getting theirs restretched. I'm buying new static frames for $17.50 (195 mesh) each and restretching costs $14.50 each (cheapest I've found for 195 mesh). The time invested to drive 50-60 frames 4 hours away and then go back and pick them up will cost me more in lost profits by not printing while I'm gone than the $150 I would shell out to buy new frames.
Is $14.50 a lot to get them restretched? Im in Lancaster, PA (about an hour from philly) and cant find anyone else closer at a cheaper rate. Seems to me the best thing to do would be to sell these frames off at $2 each and just buy new frames with new mesh. What are your opinions?
Thanks!
