Default Halogen light exposure setup help please!

Hey guys, I've been told to get 2 500 W halogen lights as a exposure unit setup for my 25x30 screens - would it be better if I got a 1000 W halogen light instead? And how high above the screen would I have to set it up? If I were to make the stands out of the wood, would that be unwise? Is there another material I should make the stands from? thanks!

I'm still using double halogens. Set 17" from the glass and yes, wood is fine.

They're a couple of inches apart. Didn't really put that much thought into it to be honest.
